WNBB At The Blues Can October 17th Saturday Big Band Brunch
Is it Autumn Again? The days may be getting cooler, but music (and mimosas) will keep you warm. Come join Calgary’s WNBB Big Band (a.k.a. “The Wednesday Night Big Band”) on October 17
th for Saturday Big Band Brunch at the Blues Can, one of Calgary’s liveliest music venues (2002 – 16 Ave NW; https://www.thebluescan.com).We have a great show with classics from the Count Basie Big Band and the Gershwins to today’s writers and arrangers, including Albertans Pat Belliveau, Craig Johnson and Larry Shrum. And of course, there will be lots of solos and features from the band.
The show starts at 11:30 AM. $20 cover (cash only please).

"Swing into Spring". A swinging good time at Calgary's iconic jazz venue, featuring classic big band songs, vocals and instrumentals.

We are featuring on vocals both Wendy Lomnes and Russell Moore. Wendy is an all-time favourite with jazz-fans in Calgary, and with the Wednesday Night Big Band. Russell is a third generation Calgarian who grew up performing with the Young Canadians. His entertainment career led him to Las Vegas where he performed at the legendary Dunes and Stardust Hotels. He went on to perform at Harrah's in Atlantic City and at Disneyland.
Our instrumentals feature arrangements by David Prentice and Larry Schrum.
